Hi – I’m Yes!
I started working at the age of 8 after moving to the US with my family. This experience helped me develop good money habits and pay for things like a car and university in cash without loans or parental support.
Unfortunately, saving alone does not lead to financial freedom.
By 28 I found myself unfulfilled in my career, burned out, and feeling guilty for not appreciating the life I thought my parents had envisioned for me.
Determined to replace my 9-5, I consumed every FIRE book & podcast I could find and just a few months later I was closing on my first rental property!
I didn’t know the first thing about investing, much less being a landlord. I made sooo many mistakes. I.e. paying cash for 2 properties during historically low interest rates) and I continue to make mistakes. Even so, I’ve scaled to 8 rentals and replaced 75% of my annual expenses with passive income in 2 years. All this while investing from out of state & out of the country!
I haven’t reached early retirement but I hope that in sharing my progress I can help other immigrants, minorities, first generation and everyone in between avoid my same mistakes and create their own version of the American Dream.
As a side note, did you know that the average US student borrows $30,000 for college? 🤯
Whether you have debt or you’re just getting started on your financial journey, I hope this blog helps you achieve your goals.
